Project Brief: Supply, Install & Maintain Electric Sliding Gate

We are looking for a company to supply, fit, and maintain an electric sliding gate at our residential property in Hertfordshire.

The gate will form part of our front boundary and must provide both security and convenience for our family.

Key Requirements:

  • A modern, reliable electric sliding gate suitable for residential use.
  • Gate to be approximately 4.5 metres wide - depending on final measurement
  • Material preference: powder‑coated steel or aluminium, with a clean, contemporary design.

Integration with:

  • Keypad entry
  • Remote controls
  • Vehicle detection loop (if recommended)

Other:

  • Safety features including photocells and emergency manual release
  • Removal of the existing manual gate (if required)
  • Full installation including groundwork, track, motor, and electrical connection
  • Ongoing maintenance and servicing to ensure long‑term reliability

How We Delivered the Project

Project Delivery: Electric Sliding Gate Installation & Maintenance

Once we received the customer’s brief, we arranged an on‑site survey to assess the driveway layout, available space for the sliding mechanism, and the most suitable motor and safety configuration. During the visit, we took full measurements, checked ground levels, and confirmed the electrical requirements for the gate automation system.

Design & Specification

We presented the customer with several design options, including steel and aluminium gate styles, and recommended a powder‑coated aluminium sliding gate for its durability and low maintenance. We also specified a high‑quality sliding gate motor with built‑in safety features, photocells, and a manual release system for power outages.

Groundwork & Preparation

Before installation, we carried out the necessary groundwork, including:

  • Preparing the concrete foundation for the gate track
  • Installing the sliding rail and support posts
  • Running the required electrical cabling in protective conduit

This ensured a stable, long‑lasting base for the gate system.

Installation

Our engineers installed the gate, fitted the motor, aligned the track, and configured all safety devices. We programmed the remotes, keypad entry system, and soft‑start/soft‑stop settings to ensure smooth and quiet operation.

Testing & Handover

Once installation was complete, we carried out full operational and safety testing. We demonstrated the system to the customer, including:

  • How to operate the gate
  • How to use the manual release
  • How to manage access codes and remotes

Maintenance & Ongoing Support

We enrolled the customer onto our annual maintenance plan, which includes:

  • A full yearly service
  • Safety checks
  • Lubrication and alignment adjustments
  • Priority call‑outs if required

This ensures the gate remains reliable, safe, and compliant with current automation standards.
